PS (Project System) manages activities that have a beginning and an end, along three axes: cost, schedule and progress. It covers construction, large equipment manufacture, research and development, and system implementations.
What characterises PS is that it is a junction between other modules. Materials are bought against a project (MM), people work on it (HR and CO), the customer is billed (SD), and the accumulated cost is finally settled (CO and FI). PS does not so much execute anything itself as gather the activity of other modules under a project.
These ten sections start with the project definition and WBS, move through networks and scheduling, planning and budgeting, actual costs, status management, and finish with settlement and reporting.
